Rock and pop bands and solo artistes in the country, thus far content with albums and live performances, are increasingly taking up film music projects. Indian Ocean, who stepped tentatively into Bollywood with composing the score for Anurag Kashyap's 2006 film Black Friday, have composed the soundtrack for the recently released Handmade Films' film Hulla, and have another film project, Bhoomi, in the pipeline. The Kailasa trio, Paresh, Naresh and Kailash Kher, is working on two special songs in Nikhil Advani's Chandni Chowk to China and singer Shibani Kashyap, one of the few women composers in Bollywood, has earlier composed hits like Saajna aabhi Jaa for Waisa Bhi Hota Hai part 2 and Zindaa hoon main for Zinda. |

Deepika to Star against Akshay |
Hollywood is starting to take a keen interest in the Bollywood film industry. And this was proved when Warner Bros funded Shona Urvashi's debut film, Saas Bahu Aur Sensex. Then there is their next venture, Chandni Chowk to China, which stars Akshay Kumar opposite hot newcomer Deepika Padukone. On the latter offering, it would appear that the Singh is Kinng star has another ace up his sleeve, and I am not talking about his performance. Let's just say that Kumar will be flexing is vocal chords for the title track. I'm not sure whether rapping with Snoop Dogg in his last film was the catalyst in Kumar exploring his musical talent, but at least he proves his versatility. |
